Signs that your blood sugar is chronically low (when the pancreas pump out too much insulin because of constant blood sugar spikes) :
Hanger : that murderous beast you turn into if a meal is missed (along with dizziness)
craving sweet foods during the meal
When you feel super tired usually eating food instantly helps
You grab coffees throughout the day to help you with energy levels
Poor memory, poor attention and sometimes get blurred vision
Find it hard to wake up in the morning (cue the snooze button pressing for the 5th time in a row)
You crash by 3-4 pm and usually wake up in the night around 2- 4 am and will be awake for at least 45 min/ 1 hour
Signs that your blood sugar is too high (AKA insulin resistance, when your cells are so exhausted they refuse to let insulin in):
Constant hunger, doesn’t matter how much you eat… you could always have a bit more
You get very tired after a meal, you have that feeling that a meal is not finished unless there is a treat
Have trouble sleeping
You urinate a lot more often than what your friends do, may have used phrases like “I must have a smaller bladder”.
Easily put on weight around your belly but it doesn't matter how much you work on it you cannot lose it.
A lot of people will present with a combination of both so someone with low blood sugar will also have some insulin resistance. These constant insulin surges can have a heavy toll on your thyroid, brain function and mitochondrial health. The good news is that there are some diet tricks that can really help you with this.
